Pastoral Support Assistant

 

  • Salary – Scale F, £13.69-£14.91 per hour (£26,421-£28,770 FTE)
  • Permanent
  • 37 hours per week
  • Term time plus 1 week
  • Required January 2024

 

Angel Road Nursery/Infant and Junior Schools are looking for a passionate, highly motivated, skilled Pastoral Assistant to join our dedicated safeguarding and pastoral team for the start of the spring term 2024. You will join a dedicated and friendly pastoral team who support parents and children in our school. This is an exciting opportunity to work with families with the aim of improving attendance and pupil outcomes.

 

We are looking for people who:

  • Are committed to safeguarding children and have worked as a DSL (or willing to undergo DSL Training)
  • Experience of supporting families and running Family Support Plans
  • Genuinely care about improving children’s life chances and have high aspirations for all children.
  • Have English and Maths qualifications to Level 2 (GCSE A-C)
  • Have a desire to continue own professional development.
  • An excellent communicator who can build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
  • Can work well as part of a team.
  • Are able to manage behaviours and a range of emotional and social difficulties.
  • Can run interventions and nurture groups to support children (experience of ELSA or willing to train as an ELSA)

The role will involve:

  • Leading social skills groups/nurture provision;
  • Maintaining accurate records of pupil incidents, conversations with parents and children;
  • Assisting with supporting positive behaviour across the school;
  • Supporting children in class with their learning;
  • Responsibility for running a nurture group for part of lunchtime for vulnerable pupils;
  • Supporting with pupil school Attendance;
  • Working alongside parents with the potential to offer parent workshops;
  • Be part of the DSL safeguarding team;
  • Running a young carer group;

Teaching Assistant

 

  • KS1 or Lower KS2
  • Pay scale: Scale D £12.18 – £12.39 per hour (£23,500– £23,893 FTE)
  • Temporary until 19th July 2023
  • Part time 28.75 Mon-Fri (term time plus 1 week)
  • To begin: As soon as possible

The role will require the ability to be able to provide learning support for children with a wide variety of needs including those with significant SEND.

 

We are looking for candidates who:

  • have a level 2 or 3 teaching assistant qualification
  • can demonstrate skills in delivering targeted interventions or working with children with SEND who have adapted curriculums
  • have secure knowledge, understanding and experience of delivering either Key Stage One, Two and/or EYFS curriculum.
  • have experience in improving outcomes for children in Reading, Writing and Maths, including the teaching of phonics
  • can demonstrate strong positive behaviour management strategies
  • always put the interest of the children first and want them to achieve to the very best of their ability
  • have a genuine passion about the power of education to improve lives
  • can communicate well with children, parents and colleagues
  • are team-players
  • have a good sense of humour.
