PE and Sport Premium

Sport Premium Funding

The primary PE and sport premium was introduced in March 2013 to improve the provision of physical education and school sport in primary schools across England. The funding is allocated directly to primary schools and is ring-fenced. This means it may only be spent on improving the provision of PE and sport in schools. This year we have received £19,550.

The school uses the funding to support our extra-curricular opportunities offering a wide range of clubs during lunchtimes and after school. These clubs include; football, volleyball, gymnastics, athletics, tag rugby and dodgeball. Some of these clubs are targeted to particular groups of children to encourage their participation and activity, and are all linked to outside community clubs.

All children are involved in half termly school tournaments including; OAA, gymnastics, basketball, athletics, rounders and tennis. The aim of these events is to motivate the children to keep active, work as part of team and experience a competitive situation. In addition, our aim for 2019-20 is for all children to have had the opportunity to represent the school in competitions against other schools this year.

The funding has also enabled us to ensure high quality teaching across the school, with regular PE/Sport CPD for all staff. The sport premium has allowed us to buy into exciting schemes of work, ensuring a varied and high quality curriculum, differentiated to support all children.

Finally, the sport premium funding has enabled us to promote leadership roles within the school, teaching children valuable skills around communication, responsibility and positivity.

We have been awarded the Gold School Games Mark for 2017/2018.
